LUNG CANCER: About 170,000 people will be diagnosed with lung cancer this year. Between 70 percent and 80 percent of those people smoke. Only percent will be cured. The rest will be given less than a year to live.

The Maricopa County department of Public Health Tobacco Abuse Prevention Program says there are over 4000 chemicals in every tobacco product. Approximately 40 of those chemicals are carcinogenic and cause cancer. Listed below are some of the chemicals found in tobacco.

  • Acetic Acid - vinegar
  • Ammonia - floor/toliet cleaner
  • Arsenic - rat posion
  • Butane cigarette lighter fluid
  • Cadmium - rechargeable batteries
  • Carbon Monoxide - car exhaust fumes
  • Ethanol - alcohol
  • Formaldehyde - preserves human and animal tissue
  • Hexamine - bbq lighter fluid
  • Hydrogen Cyanide - gas chamber poision
  • Methane - swamp gas
  • Methanol - rocket fuel
  • Napthalene - mothballs
  • Nicotine - insecticide/addictive drug
  • Stearic Acid - candle wax
